Combine Straw Choppers

Rekord's Straw Choppers lead the field in efficiency and reliability.
Rekord now supply two types of straw chopper, the highly developed conventional chopper as detailed below can be supplied to retro fit to many models of existing combines, and the new Combi System which is specific to some new combine models.
The Conventional Chopper

The rotor is made of precision steel tube and welded by robot as well as balanced to eliminate vibration. The rotor shaft is mounted in cast bearing housings for increased machine life. The swinging knives are made of special steel and are hardened for maximum life. They are the strongest knives on the market. The system reduces the risk of damage when stones and other foreign objects pass through the straw chopper. The swinging knives are easily reversible for increased service. |
| The Rekord rotor knife is single ground on both sides. With the sloping sides turned towards each other a unique air flow is created between the knives . When it passes the fixed knives the straw gets finely chopped in an efficient way. | ![]() |

The length of the chopped straw is controlled by the knife bar which can be adjusted to different pressure angles. This adjustment is done without tools and can quickly be changed depending on which crop is harvested. As the knife bar angle is increased the straw is chopped shorter. |
| Triflex knife bar has an unique construction which implies that the straw is chopped in three steps. First all straw is guided into the rotor in front of the knife bar minimizing the distance between the knife bar and rotor knives. Step two:- the straw is chopped against the fixed knives and thereafter all straw is pressed back into the rotor after the fixed knives. When the Triflex knife bar is adjusted down for a reduced pressure angle of the fixed knives, the distance between the knife bar and rotor knives is increased which results in an easier material flow through the chopper. | ![]() |

Easy change between chopping and swathing :- The straw chopper is fitted to the straw walker hood. When swathing unchopped straw the guide plate is folded back with a handle, so that the straw is guided in front of the chopper. The rake is adjusted to obtain a good straw swath for the baler. |
| Spreader Hood :- the straw is evenly spread over the whole cutting width by the deflectors on the hood. They are fitted in slots for easy adjustment. In strong wind spoilers guide the material into the stubble. They are electronically or mechanically adjustable. | ![]() |
